The book – The Circle
The construction process at Zurich Airport took five years. A long time. But again, not when you consider the scope and size of the project. Hochparterre, the Swiss publishing house for architecture, planning and design, has now written a book about The Circle the new quarter at Zurich Airport. In it, the makers around the architecture of Riken Yamamoto are introduced. Also the tenants and users as well as the park, which is really unique for an airport.
The Circle – The book
Available in the Hochparterre Onlineshop.
The book tells the story and development of The Circle, from the first ideas in 1999 until today. As well as how the planning and construction challenges were mastered. Important protagonists of the project are introduced in portraits. Short interviews were also conducted with numerous representatives of the building owner, with planners and builders, and with tenants – from the CEO of the University Hospital Zurich to the CEO of Microsoft and the restaurateur couple Segmüller.
Photographer Ralph Bensberg accompanied the construction process photographically. From the groundbreaking ceremony to the inauguration. Embedded in this are photographs by Jonas Weibel, who portrayed the people involved. Also on display is the structural development of the airport from 1953 to the present day.
