Tropical House Frutigen – Experience Location

Frutigen is located at the foot of the Bernese High Alps between Spiez and Adelboden. Only 40 minutes away from Bern you will find a tropical paradise. Due to the construction of the Lötschberg tunnel, rain and melt water can no longer seep away. As a result, about 70 liters of approximately 18 degree warm mountain water flow out of the tunnel per second at the north portal. This much warm water must not be discharged into mountain streams. The excess heat is used to grow heat-loving plants and fish. Thus, a sensible and sustainable use of thermal energy was created. Both for the breeding of the sturgeons and for heating the greenhouse with its multitude of tropical plants.

How the Swiss caviar from the Siberian sturgeon reaches the kitchens of the region, that you will learn at an interactive exhibition. During a guided tour you will gain insights into the different areas of the Tropical House Frutigen as well as first-hand insider knowledge.

Whether workshop, meeting or company event, the Tropical House Frutigen with its combination of tropical garden, fish farm and adventure exhibition is a very special place for any occasion. Where else in the Bernese Oberland can you celebrate in a tropical climate under banana trees?

Meeting Room Shop: The meeting room with its bar tables and view of the mountains, is ideal for workshops and meetings for up to 12 people. Two other meeting rooms can be combined and offer space for up to 30 participants, depending on the seating arrangement. The rooms are equipped with the latest technical infrastructure as well as flipcharts, pin boards, magnetic walls, writing utensils, screens, projectors and TV screens. A private terrace is ideal for breakout sessions or coffee breaks. The tropical garden and the restaurant are right next door. Away from the restaurant, in the orchid garden, you can enjoy a fine aperitif or an exclusive dinner in a private setting. Small standing dinners for up to 20 people can also be held on the coffee path.
