Hundertwasserhaus Vienna

The visionary Viennese artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser created unique buildings worldwide with his idea of ecology and sustainability.

His vision was free architecture for all. Buildings without standards, specifications and straight lines. Everyone should have the possibility to create a little paradise on earth. And so everyone who lives in the Hundertwasserhaus has the right to design the facade around the windows, according to their own taste.

Hundertwasserhaus Vienna – a place where people and nature come together

The building on Kegelstrasse in Vienna was constructed from 1983-1985. Together with the architects Josef Krawina and Peter Pelikan, a place was created at the corner of Kegelgasse and Löwengasse, which was the starting point for many Hundertwasser art buildings all over the world. In Vienna it is one of the most photographed sights.

The building with roof wooding, colored facade and small towers is today a residential building with 52 apartments, business premises and numerous roof terraces. If you want to learn more about the Hundertwasserhaus in Vienna, we recommend a visit to the Bazaar & Café entrance Löwengasse. There you can see an interesting film in which the master himself guides you through the house.

Like the Hundertwasserhaus, the Kunst Haus Wien, which is only a few minutes walk from the Hundertwasserhaus, was also designed by the artist. There you can see a permanent exhibition as well as changing exhibitions of other artists.

Hundertwasser Village

Also nearby is the Hundertwasser Village. The building was formerly used as a tire factory and was redesigned both outside and inside according to the concept and ideas of Friendensreich Hundertwasser.
